Overview:
This position would support the Microsoft Trustworthy Computing business, which is responsible for building greater trust in computing through tight integration/partnership with other Microsoft teams, and strong, focused storytelling with influentials. The TwC group as a whole focuses on driving awareness around Microsoft's broad security and privacy efforts to strengthen user trust in computing across multiple audiences, including, technical, business, consumer, and elite audiences. In addition to working with various internal Microsoft TwC groups dedicated to these specific areas, the team works closely with many product groups and international business owners to ensure that the TwC objectives and vision are represented appropriately in their communications activities. We work in a fast-paced environment that requires quick, close communication among team members in multiple offices and time zones and a willingness to help out where needed. We’re looking for a team player who has great listening skills, takes initiative, has confidence, displays curiosity.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as day-to-day contact with influentials on clients’ behalf. Research, understand and anticipate influentials’ interests, needs and preferences in order to provide value-added service to editors, to brief clients, and to ultimately build relationships. • Continue to service trade press contacts, expanding efforts toward senior-level influentials. Begin working to establish relationships with national business press. • Reactively answer influentials’ questions, coordinate requests for comment and interviews, and provide useful information quickly. Add strategic context and a strong, well-thought point of view, offering competitive comparison and long-term corporate positioning. • Facilitate press meetings, lead press/analyst tours and/or events. Keep the flow of the client presentation and interview on track. Give client useful counsel and briefings prior to meetings and constructive performance feedback after the interview. Provide clients with trip reports that include analysis of meetings and indicators of future coverage. • Manage day-to-day client relationships. • Have an active understanding and awareness of issues, marketing objectives and technology and products in order to provide strategic planning and counsel to the client and media. • Develop and present PR plans that clarify business goals, situation analysis, challenges, solutions, measurement criteria and fiscal planning. • Proactively negotiate client inclusion in coverage. Propose story ideas (timing and content), benchmark criteria for product reviews, schedule meetings, educate and shape opinions on broader marketplace themes. Solicit feedback from influentials regarding their perception of your client/s, competition and industry position. • Brainstorm new approaches, recognizing when situations may call for non-traditional PR approaches. Involve client services to increase client satisfaction as appropriate. • Manage team’s progress on activities/projects. Ensure accurate, high-quality deliverables within budget and deadline expectations. Elevates issues as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Education • Bachelors degree or above in communications, journalism or related field preferred Experience Preferred • At least 4 years experience in PR, preferably in an agency setting and/or within the high tech industry. 5-6 years experience preferred. • Demonstrated understanding of what influencers value and how they work. • Has established editor and/or analyst relationships and has proactively placed stories. • At least 2 years managing a client relationship. • At least 1-2 years experience managing individuals or a team. • Worked under client and influential deadlines. • Has written and developed press materials. • Developed and executed a PR plan/s. • Conducted press meetings and/or led a press tour. • Demonstrated ability to handle deadline pressure and manage stress is very important. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize "on-the-fly" are also important in this role. • Strong writing and verbal skills are a must.
